Malaria Prophylaxis is not necessary for Jakarta Municipality, major cities (including Bogor, Bandung, Solo, and Surabaya), or the main resort areas of Java and Bali. Contact your local health facility for the latest updated advice. Avoid mosquito bites by covering up with clothing such as long sleeves and long trousers especially after sunset, using insect repellents on exposed skin.Another disease transmitted through mosquitoes is Dengue Fever. Unlike Malaria, there are no tablets available which will prevent you from getting it. Make sure to check for the most recent information concerning Dengue Fever. Like Malaria, dengue can be prevented by using a mosquito net and applying repellent. These mosquitoes are however more active during the day and breed around water collections such as puddles in water tanks, used tires and flower pots.
Bali's hyperbaric chamber is at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar. Tasik Divers Bali carries Medical oxygen as well as a Medical First Aid Kit and as much Mineral water as needed (we advice minimum 4L/pax/day) to all of the dive sites we visit.
Electricity:
Electrical current in Bali is 220 volts at 50 cycles. Most electrical plugs are set to take a two-pin plug. Purchase an international adapter or ask your resort to lend you one.
Water and Air Temperatures:
Lying just 8 Degrees South of the equator, Bali enjoys a tropical climate. The average temperature hovers around 30°C all year round. The wet season usually starts middle November to middle of March, leaving most of its tropical downpours for the Months January & February. Although dive able year round, the dry season (middle March till Middle November) is generally sunnier, less humid and from a weather point view, the coolest and best time to visit. The water temperature varies from dive site to dive site and is generally set between 24°C and 28°C, an eventual drop to 22°C can be encountered at open ocean dives where we dive to spot ocean giants like Manta & Mola Mola (Oceanic Sun Fish). We recommend a 5mm wetsuit.
